Sabrina Carpenter Discusses Her ‘Zac Efron Phase’ & How She Wrote ‘Espresso’

All Spilled in the Tea

Sabrina Carpenter is known for her music, acting, and even songwriting, but what about her interest in former Disney channel star, Zac Efron?

In a recent interview, she was asked if she ever had a ‘Zac Efron phase’. “Honestly, I didn’t have one,” she replied. “I was always more into the older guys. Like Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt.”

Inspiration Behind ‘Espresso’

But she did have a ‘Zac Efron phase,’ of sorts, when she was younger. “I remember when I was like 12 or 13, I was obsessed with him,” she said. “I would watch all of his movies and listen to all of his music. I even had a poster of him on my wall. It wasn’t until I got older that I realized he wasn’t really my type.”

Carpenter’s song, ‘Espresso’, is one of the most popular tracks on her new album. She wrote the song about a relationship that was one-sided. “It’s about someone who is always expecting something from you but never willing to give anything in return,” she explained. “It’s about that feeling of being used and taken advantage of.”

Although Carpenter is still only 23 years old, she has already had a wealth of experience in the entertainment industry. She’s starred in several movies and TV shows, and she’s released two albums. She’s also been nominated for several awards, including a Golden Globe Award. With her talent, smarts, beauty, and drive, she’s sure to continue to achieve great things.
