Michael Jordan's Illinois Mansion Sells After 12 Years on the Market
Former Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan has finally sold his Highland Park, Illinois, mansion after 12 years on the market.
The Athletic reports that the 56,000-square-foot property has been under contract since March and is expected to close soon. The sale price has not been disclosed, but the mansion was originally listed for $29 million in 2012.
Jordan bought the property in 1991 for $2.5 million and spent several years renovating it. The mansion features nine bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, a regulation-size indoor basketball court, a tennis court, and a putting green.
Jordan has been trying to sell the mansion for years, but it has been on and off the market several times. In 2013, it was listed for $21 million, and in 2015, it was listed for $16 million.
The sale of the mansion marks the end of an era for Jordan, who has lived in the Chicago area for decades. He played for the Bulls from 1984 to 1993 and again from 1995 to 1998. He led the Bulls to six NBA championships and is widely considered to be one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
