Bajram Begaj: The President of Albania
Biography
Bajram Begaj, born on March 20, 1967, is a retired military officer and politician who has served as the President of Albania since July 24, 2022. He was appointed to the position following the resignation of Ilir Meta.
Military Career
Begaj had a distinguished military career, serving as the Chief of General Staff of the Albanian Armed Forces from 2020 to 2022. Prior to that, he held various leadership positions within the military.
Political Career
After retiring from the military, Begaj entered politics and was appointed as Minister of Defense in the government of Edi Rama in 2022. He held this position for a brief period before his appointment as President.
Presidency
As President, Begaj is the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. He is responsible for representing the country at home and abroad and ensuring the proper functioning of institutions. Begaj has emphasized the importance of unity and stability in Albania during his presidency.
