Borussia Dortmund face uphill battle against Atletico Madrid in Champions League

First leg deficit leaves German giants with work to do

Mats Hummels and Nico Schlotterbeck key to Dortmund's hopes

Borussia Dortmund will need to overturn a 2-1 first leg deficit when they host Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Wednesday.

The German side were beaten 2-1 in Madrid last week, with Antoine Griezmann scoring the winning goal for the Spanish champions.

Dortmund will be without the suspended Jude Bellingham for the second leg, but they will be boosted by the return of Erling Haaland from injury.

The Norwegian striker is Dortmund's top scorer this season with 25 goals in all competitions, and he will be key to their hopes of reaching the semi-finals for the first time since 2013.

Dortmund will also need to be solid defensively, and they will be relying on Mats Hummels and Nico Schlotterbeck to keep Atletico Madrid's attack at bay.

The German duo have been in impressive form this season, and they will need to be at their best if Dortmund are to have any chance of progressing.
